About Voice Over 1

Make your performance unique and develop voice-over skills such as copy interpretation, character development, inflection, pacing, and sight-reading skills.

  • Wednesdays 7PM-9:30PM ET Live Online Via Zoom

  • Class Dates: 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20

  • PREREQUISITE: None - Adults 18+

We will also cover the business of voice over such as how to sign with an agent, what a demo should include, choosing your best work and marketing yourself.

You will learn:

• Basic reading with inflection, pronunciation, cadence

• Dialect, straight copy read, pacing

• Your vocal range, age range and style

• How to take direction

• Audition skills

• Commercial reads

• Character development and using your own personality

• How to do character voices, children’s voices, audio books

Each class will have a 15 minute break



Wayne David Parker

Voice Over & Film Instructor

Wayne David Parker has been an actor in the Detroit area for 38 years. He has been a Voice Over and Film instructor at MAS since 2014, and is also currently teaching at Wayne State University. He is a veteran of over 30 years in Voice Over, and has over 20 national campaigns to his credit, most recently, the voice of Pennzoil from 2011 thru May 2013. He has also appeared in 17 feature films, most notably as Da Jimmer in Escanaba in da Moonlight, a role which he originated first in the stage version of the same name. He is a stage combat instructor and choreographer. Wayne teaches VO from an acting viewpoint and enjoys coaching his students thru to a VO demo.
